Unprepared
Holy week arrives again
Palm Sunday
The triumphant entry, on a donkey
Instead of a charging horse
To a city unprepared.
Our Servant King
Caused quite a stir on Monday
Driving out the money lenders
From a temple unprepared.
Thursday, last supper
A sacrament shared
With friends unprepared.
Good Friday comes –
The day our Lord was slain;
Bore our burdens, took our pain
For a world unprepared.
Three days of darkness
Where we were lost and alone
Then glorious Easter Sunday
The sun rises, the tomb is bare
The Lord appears
To a people unprepared.
