Sunday Service Team

The Service Team members are the first people to greet visitors and regulars as they arrive at church on a Sunday, providing a warm welcome and assistance if needed.

When: Sunday morning, from 9.45am – 12.45pm approximately

Time commitment: Once a month

Skills required: good team member, good time keeper

What’s involved: able to greet people cheerfully as they come to church, able to help with taking the collection, showing people to seats, assist during an evacuation, serve tea/coffee in the basement, clear up from tea/coffee.

Other information: Service teams consist of 8-10 people with a Team Leader and Assistant Team Leader.

Sunday Visitors Welcome Corner

The Visitors Welcome Corner exists as a quiet place for new or visiting people to go after the service for a cup of tea or coffee and a chat.

When: Sunday morning, after the service from 12.15 – 12.45pm approximately

Time commitment: Once a month

Skills required: ability to be friendly and chatty

What’s involved: go to the Visitors Welcome Corner at the back of the church and chat to any new people or visitors over a cup of tea/coffee.

Communion Set Up

This team prepares the bread and wine before the service

When: Once a month, on the second Sunday, from 9.30-10.10am and again after the service for about 20 min to clear up.

Time commitment: Once a month or once every two months

What’s involved: turn up at 9.30am to cut up the bread and fill the glasses, take the trays from the kitchen to the sanctuary. After the service, stack glasses for dishwasher and tidy up.

Serving Communion

This team serve communion during the service.

When: Once a month, on the second Sunday, during the service.

Time commitment: There are two ways that QP serves communion. There is a team for “6 tables round the sanctuary” model which happens most months, and the other team is once every 3 or 4 months for “serving along the rows”.

Skills required: ability to carry trays around church

What’s involved: go to serving point during the service and serve bread or wine

QPKids- Creche

Creche is an opportunity to love and nurture the very youngest in our church family and to point them to the love and life available to us all in Jesus.

When: Sunday morning from 10am to 12.15pm

Time commitment: Once a month. 3/4 training sessions/meetings per year plus Safeguarding training every two years.

Skills required: friendly, caring, kind, reasonably fit and able. Ability to connect and share God’s love with people of all ages.

What’s involved: Setting up creche before the service. Caring for the children during the service. Leading Song and Story time if required. Clearing away after the service. Praying regularly for the families.

Other information: All leaders must register with the Protection of Vulnerable Groups Scheme and undertake regular safeguarding training.

QPKids- Explorers

The aim of Explorers is to be a place where children aged 3 to 6 years can make friends, be befriended, have fun, meet with Jesus, learn more of God’s love for them and explore what a life following Jesus means.

When: Sunday morning from 10am to 12.15pm

Time commitment: Once or twice a month. 3/4 training sessions/meetings per year plus Safeguarding training every two years.

Skills required: friendly, caring, kind, reasonably fit and able. Ability to connect and share God’s love with people of all ages.

What’s involved: Setting up the large lounge before the service. Caring for, teaching, interacting with the children during the session. Clearing away after the service. Praying regularly for the children and families. Lesson preparation as required.

Youth and Young Adults

The Youth and Young Adults Team help support our young people in church community, worship and discipleship through a variety of relational spaces. We value young people where they are, empowering them and leading them where they can’t yet go themselves, so that they can lead us where we can’t go ourselves.

When: various options – mainly weekends and Tuesday evenings

Time commitment: flexible

Skills required: listening ear, ability to chat with young people and a heart for connection with an intergenerational church building mentality.

What’s involved: Spending time with young people to build relationship and facilitate deeper connection with God. This could be creative games/illustrations, bible teaching, prayer/worship, equipping, mentoring.

Other information: age is not a barrier. There are different spaces (games night, bible study, lifegroup, youth trips).

Worship Team

Bands

The bands are a group of worshippers who have committed to ministering to God and serving the church with their musical gifting. We have musicians, vocalists and worship leaders. Each band leads monthly, with a rehearsal the previous Monday night. We also have bi-monthly team meetings.

When:

  • Sunday morning 9 – 12.15
  • Monday evenings 7.30 – 9.00
  • Occasional Sunday evening worship evenings

The team has very limited openings at present.

Technical team

We like to call this ‘beaming’ in QP. This involves projecting the words of songs during worship, as well as sermons, videos etc.

When:

  • Sunday morning 9 – 12.15
  • Worship evenings and church meetings throughout the year.

Skills required: Confidence in working with different software packages and a servant heart. Training will be provided.

Commitment: Once per month

Sound Team

The sound engineers coordinate the sound requirements with pastors and worship bands in advance of a Sunday service. On a Sunday they look after the sound levels for both the congregation and monitor mixes.

When:

  • Sunday 9am – 12.30
  • Also occasional Worship evenings and other church events.

Committment: Once or twice per month

Skills: Previous experience desirable but training will be provided.

Broadcasting Team

We currently stream our Sunday sermons onto Youtube. The broadcasting team set up the camera and sound levels and ensure the stream is compliant with GDPR requirements.

When: Sunday morning 10.30 – 12.00

Skills: Training will be provided.
