A couple of Christmases ago there was a viral trend of people (usually women) posting comments along the lines of

“Just going to lie under the Christmas Tree to remind my family what a gift I am”.

Often it was a pointed, if funny, cry for help with all the Christmas preparation.

We can all be guilty of not appreciating those around us and the gifts they are to us.

Last week was Volunteers Week and it was lovely to see all the different ways people were celebrated over the course of the week, as various organisations used social media to highlight the contributions so many volunteers make on a week-to-week basis. We, as a church family, are very aware that so much of what we do is wholly reliant on people giving up their time to serve. One of the many areas where volunteers make a huge impact is in QPKids (Creche/Explorers/Adventurers) and in QPYouth on a Sunday. We are so grateful for everyone who serves in this important area of ministry, as we invite kids and young people to go on a lifelong adventure with God.

This Sunday is our Gift service in which we celebrate our kids and young people as the school year draws to a close and many prepare to move both within and out of school.

We will be worshipping and learning all together this Sunday. We will be thinking about the gifts we have been given to use for God and to bless others. We will also be taking communion together as we think about the gift we have all been freely given by God in Jesus.

The Bible passages we will be considering are Exodus 31: 1-11 and 1 Corinthians 12: 4-31. Why not take the time to read these verses in advance? As you do this, ask God to highlight the gifts he has placed in you and to show you how you can best use them to help others and to give God glory.

See you Sunday!
