Equip is a 'year out' programme with a difference! Trainees on equip are expected to work part time (Wednesday through Friday) in order to support themselves while taking the course.
This is the area of the course that the equip leadership are most excited about. It gives invaluable life experience, teaches responsibility and means you're not living in a "Christian bubble." Even the equip co-ordinator and the huddle leaders will be following this pattern.
Trainees have two days each week of Discipleship Training and Teaching, all of which is related to living and working in the real world.
In addition to having a part-time job, trainees will be linked into an area of church ministry within QP/their own church to serve, e.g. children, youth, community, pre-school, etc. The area will be chosen by the trainee and should reflect where their passion and giftings lie. This service will be based upon an 'apprenticeship' model, whereby trainees will shadow an experienced ministry leader who will be investing in the equip trainees to see them grow and develop in their giftings through the year.
The real world means not just working in a 'secular' work place, but also engaging in service and mission within the church.
