Children & Families.

Children are valued as individuals in Queens Park Baptist Church. We don’t see them as “add-ons” to church life but as individuals who have a central place in God’s kingdom and therefore in our fellowship. Jesus reminded us many times of their importance to Him and so we seek to set the highest standards in our care of children and in the programmes we offer them. Our heartfelt aim is that we should always be open to learn from a child’s experience of faith – a simple trust and belief in Father God who cares.

Our Sunday morning programme is called “Kids Rock”. Up to 175 children from birth to age 12 meet in different age groups to learn about the Bible and its application to our daily lives. There is a well-equipped Crèche available for children up to 2 and a half, complete with a nursing mothers’ room. Next are Beginners and Building Blocks for preschoolers to P1, Power Pack for P2 and P3, Landslide for P4 to P7. Landslide seniors also enjoy a residential weekend away together to discover more about God and his great plan for their lives.

Queens Park Baptist Church also runs the thriving Rainbow Pre-school, a Glasgow City Council partnership nursery, for 3 and 4 year olds. It is open 5 mornings a week from 9.30am – 12 noon. It follows the 3-5 curriculum guidelines with Christian ethos and teaching. Telephone 423 8990 for further information (mornings).

In addition the following activities are currently running:

Kids Rock Midweek Club: children from P1 to P6 have their own club on Thursday nights from 6.15 to 7.30pm. There is a bible story each week, and games, quizzes, crafts, singing and small group time. This meets in the Queens Drive building, 180 Queens Drive.

On Tuesdays the Special Needs Activity Club (SNAC) is held in the Crypt of our Balvicar Street building (the main building) from 7pm till 8.15pm. Children aged 4-16 with varying needs and abilities relax and have fun together. Siblings are welcome and parents must accompany their child.

At Christmas, 31 October and during the summer holidays we have special activities for children AND families to take part in – parents’ nights, parties, workshops and of course our Summer Holiday Club, in the first week of August.

This year it is called Champion’s Challenge and it runs from 10am to 12 noon, 4 to 8 August. Contact us if you want more information on this sent to you in June as places fill up fast.

Child Protection Policy: in line with “Safe to Grow” (Baptist Union of Great Britain Guidelines), CCPAS guidelines and legislation, all people working with children under QP’s banner must submit to an application process. This includes child protection training, an interview and an enhanced disclosure from CRBS.
