At the end of August the youth group went to a young leader’s Summit run by ONELIFE. I was one of the young people. Armed with enough cup-a-soup to last a month and a pair of hawk eyes prepared to spot Eddie Stobbart Lorries on the journey, I joined the other young people and set off to Latimer. I was very excited and knew it would be a very beneficial weekend in networking with other young people across the U.K. and getting some God input. The weekend was set up in a way that made it really easy to meet new people; we played football, capture the flag and a game of rounder’s with very dodgy rules. There were meetings both in the morning and at night and optional seminars throughout the day. I enjoyed the seminar on justice where I felt the speaker really challenged us to think about our big celebrity culture and she raised the question as to whether we were just going to be like everybody else, loving money and material possessions or whether we were going to be young leaders who loved people in the way that God wanted us to. I found that the whole weekend really helped the group to bond and to have a chance to discuss how to project this unity across the rest of the youth group; leaving behind some old issues and taking on a new vision for change in the city. A highlight of the trip for me has to be our glee-style take on Bohemian Rhapsody in the minibus. Stuck in traffic, music blaring and children in cars looking puzzled at a grown man (Ali Laing) hitting some seriously high notes! Overall a very fun and character building weekend! – Maddie Macaulay (17)

The Onelife Summit 2010 was the place to be in the summer. I think that there were two main points that made the summit as good as it was.
Firstly, getting the opportunity to meet Christians my age who share the same interests I do was a real blessing for me and I was please to be able to do this at the Summit.
Secondly, I think it was great that the obvious presence of God was within everyone at the Summit. One great picture to sum this up was that one night a rainbow appeared with the end of it being on the worship barn. This showed just how special a barn could be with many Christians inside praising the name of God!
For me, one of the funniest moments of the summit was how we, as Scot’s, showed our true nature by having a barbeque in the pouring rain whilst everyone sat in their tents!  - Josh Waddell (16)

At Summit, there was a talk about fear and how it can hold us back in life. I went forward for prayer after the talk and a lady prayed that fear would be removed from my life and that I would know to trust in God. She told me she got a picture of Jesus walking with me and steering me away from any obstacles or wrong turns that come my way and guiding me along the right paths. I really liked this! The next morning I went to a seminar and I felt God saying these words: 'step out in faith, I will guide you'. I often think about this now when I am going into unknown situations or wanting to share my faith but not knowing what to say!
I had a sore shoulder the week of Summit - it felt like a trapped nerve - so my friend Madeline prayed for it and it was healed! Praise God!
The funniest moment at Summit for me was during our group's barbeque one evening. It was very windy and the rain suddenly poured down on us. We took a funny picture of Ali sitting on ground with an umbrella to shelter the cooking burgers whilst smoke was blowing about in every direction!
My lasting memory would have to be when the wind and rainy weather calmed and a beautiful rainbow appeared in the valley. The end of the rainbow was right above the 'Worship Barn' where we had our meetings and we really felt God presence at the conference.
Having been to The Summit, I am now more involved in the church - helping out as a leader and building deeper friendships within the church. I also feel I have a stronger relationship with God. – Orla Pert (18)
